What we do
At the Fixing Factory, we’re all about giving gadgets — and our planet — a second chance. From our bright orange workshops, we’re tackling e-waste head-on with a mix of hands-on repair sessions, skill-building workshops, and a big dose of community spirit. Think of it as a space where saving the planet is fun, practical, and just a little bit electrifying.
In our first 2 years, we rescued and repurposed over 1600kg of electrical goods that were destined for landfill. But this is just the beginning. We dream of a future where every high street has a Fixing Factory, and together, we can make it happen.
Our mission: To bring people together through fixing, cut carbon emissions, and give broken stuff a second chance.
Why Fixing Matters
At Fixing Factory, every repair isn’t just about saving a device — it’s about:
Reducing e-waste: By fixing instead of replacing, we keep waste out of landfill and cut carbon emissions.
Empowering communities: Learning repair skills isn’t just handy — it builds confidence, resilience, and brings people together.
Saving money: Making tech last for longer, and buying secondhand, helps people facing the cost of living crisis.
Protecting the planet: Repairing and reusing tech helps create a cleaner, greener future for us all.
Powered by Passion and Support
We’re a community-funded, non-profit project driven by passionate volunteers and supported through generous customer donations and grants. Our operations are run in partnership by Possible and the The Restart Project, and funded by the National Lottery Climate Action Fund.
