Frequently Asked Questions
Please check our FAQs below before emailing us with general enquiries.
-
No, just check here that it’s something we can repair and come along to one of our Community Repair sessions.
-
If you can't get to a Fixing Factory, there are loads of other groups across the UK who run community repair events. You can find them here.
-
Our project partners, The Restart Project, have created a London wide repair directory where you can find reliable local repair shops which have been vetted by the team. View it here.
-
Please email hello@fixingfactory.org letting us know who you are trying to reach and your message will passed on.

Possible are happy to run public and community Fixing events within the boroughs of Haringey and Camden, and on the borders of these boroughs. We charge a fee to run these events, which covers our time to organise and run the event, transportation, tools and equipment. If you’d like us to run an event for you in one of these areas, please contact Petra.Backovska@wearepossible.org.
The Restart Project runs public Fixing events within all other London boroughs, in partnership with local fixing groups. If you’d like them to run an event for you in London, please contact shelini@therestartproject.org.
We also run private and corporate workshops for groups to learn the basics of reuse and repair. We charge a fee to run these events. See our Fixperience workshops and corporate offers page for more details.
Unfortunately, we do not currently have the resources to run events for free, or to run events outside of London. If you do not have a budget to run your event or you’re based outside of London, let us know if you’re happy for us to keep your details and we will let you know if the situation changes. In the meantime, we’d love you to direct people to the free, public events run at our Fixing Factories, or to local Restart Parties. -
We'd love to, and our plan over the next two years is to create models and blueprints for others to take and adapt to their specific locations and needs. At the moment we're not quite ready for that and capacity constraints mean we have to choose carefully which projects we can support beyond our own. You can drop us a line at hello@fixingfactories.org and we’ll get back to you when we can.
In the meantime, you can search out local community fixers in your area via The Restart Project, The Hackspace Foundation, MensShedsUK and the Repair Cafe foundation.

It costs money to run Fixing Factory activities: to pay for staff, rent and bills for our sites, tools, materials and refreshments. Some of our costs are currently covered by the National Lottery Community Fund, but this funding will end in 2027.Our goal is to make repair easy and affordable for the general public on a mass scale - we want to see a Fixing Factory on every High Street in the UK. In order to continue running our existing Fixing Factories, and scale up the model, our sites need to be able to generate enough income to cover their own running costs. We run some free or subsidised activities, because we want everyone to be able to access repair - regardless of income. Our volunteers, who generously give their time for free, and those who donate to Fixing Factories make this possible. We do not make a profit from Fixing Factories - all money raised is reinvested into running our sites, and helping to make repair the norm across the UK.

No. We manage the following Fixing Factory sites: Camden, Hackeny and Haringey, which use our Fixing Factories logo and branding. We own the copyright on that logo, so other organisations need our permission to use it.Our aim is to have a Fixing Factory on every high street in the UK. We deliberately haven’t tried to restrict the use of the name ‘Fixing Factory’, because we love seeing communities and local authorities all over the world setting up their own Fixing Factories. However, that means we can’t be held responsible for any Fixing Factories other than those listed on our website.
